Translations Are Always Urgent
The sooner our clients get their translations, the better.
Sounds familiar. But let's be realistic.
On average, a translator can handle about ten pages or 3,000 words a day, depending on the difficulty and the layout of the text. An editor can do about 10,000 words a day.
But there are cases in which editing takes just as long — or even longer
— than the translation itself.
Is it possible to translate 2,500,000 words in only three months?
In order not to jeopardize current jobs, we estimate that our translators can take on 2,500 words a day, and we reserve one editor for every three translators. Our project manager is the liaison between the client and the team. The shorter the deadline, the greater the pressure on his shoulders.
If it's really necessary, we can work wonders by immediately dividing the job among three, four, or even ten people with the same specialization. So the answer to the question above is "Yes,
but... " Remember that there are many ways a translation project can go wrong, and unrealistic deadlines is certainly one of them.
